$700 on TCU +13 vs. Georgia: My heart wants TCU to win, but every time I bet that way, the team I pick loses. So, . . . Voilà! I'll bet my poke on Georgia and the Horn Frogs will win! But as that's not likely, even though some of you may remember a long-ago series of posts I made here telling how a psychiatrist and I schemed to make money that way and won! But the message is clear: It's time to ignore my heart! Let's look at the numbers instead: NFL stats indicate, a team that is favored by 10 points has about an 84% chance of winning. So, the likelihood a favorite like Georgia will lose one of two games in a row when it’s been favored by 10 in both of them is about 30%. And the Bulldogs are now favored by 13 points over TCU after having been favored over Ohio State by 6.5 points. Thus, (19.5 divided by 2 = 10), indicating it's not at all unlikely that Georgia will lose one of two consecutive games when it’s favored by 10 points in both of them, and having already topped the Buckeyes by just one point a week ago, it seems a bet on TCU +13 makes a lot of sense! Bingo!

$2000 TCU +13 vs Georgia - I have been telling anyone around me who will listen for the past month that TCU will win the national championship. Most folks have been giving that strange look & nodding. Let’s talk about quarterbacks, why don’t we. Southern Cal’s Caleb Williams has all the tools & a good attitude to boot. Definite QB for Sundays. (PS he still needs to perfect his deep field vision a bit but I am just being picky.) Penn State’s Sean Clifford, the perennially overrated Bo Nix (now at Oregon) and also rans at several other schools deserve a shot. But if I’m the GM of a struggling team, let me pick Max Duggan from TCU. Every time I have seen him play, he finds a way to win. I was blown over watching Duggan carrying his team single handedly against Kansas St for the conf championship. Although the Frogs eventually lost, in the 4th quarter a physically exhausted Max called his own number over & over again in a late scoring drive that made me breathless. This guy would jump off a building for his team. He finds a way. He did it again the other day in a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat game. And he will run, throw or just plain fall into the end zone, I am convinced. Mechanically he’s good enough, but his hands aren’t that big & his vertical jump is mediocre, blah blah. I’m putting my largest bet ever on 1st year HC Sonny Dykes whom I have commended here in the past. (I hope nobody steals this guy). BTW My other hidden gem of a QB is Western Kentucky’s Austin Reed. All the skills, plus an accurate bullet arm & an attitude that can’t be intimidated. You should hope your Pro team drafts him.
