MONEY BETS RESULTS – For Bowl Games Played on 1/2/2023
A. THIS WEEK’S WINNERS & LOSERS – In a stunning display of wagering disasters, not one of our players had a winning bet, with two of them moving to the top of the standings simply due to modest losses while two others fell bigtime with large ones:
#1 (Tie) The Coin – Lost $200 on a modest underdog play that didn't win and didn't cover either.
Lost $200 on Illinois +2.5 (Mississippi State 19, Illinois 10).
#1 (Tie) Benchwarmer – Lost $200 on a modest, but daring underdog play that didn't come close to winning, even with a big point spread.
Lost $200 on Purdue +15 (LSU 63, Purdue 7).
#3 Misterjimi – Lost $2,100 trying to extend his long-held derby lead and stave off a late season rush by large amount wagering and ended up losing his top billing with just one week left in the race.
Lost $1,000 on Utah -1.5 (Penn State 35, Utah 21).
Lost $500 on USC -2.5 (Tulane 46, USC 45).
Lost $500 on Purdue +14.5 (LSU 63, Purdue 7).
Lost $100 on Illinois +2.5 (Mississippi State 19, Illinois 10).
#4 Trojangles – Lost $6,000 while struggling desperately to catch up with the leaders, suffered his largest net loss of the season on two huge wagers that failed.
Lost $3,000 on Southern California -2 (Tulane 46, USC 45).
Lost $3,000 on Utah -1 (Penn State 35, Utah 21).
B. CURRENT DERBY STANDINGS: The derby leadership changed once again, with the two modest players moving to the top and both of the big bettors now roosting in negative territory.
1st Place – The Coin’s bankroll moved into first place in the standings by virtue of a having a much smaller loss than the one last week’s derby leader suffered today.
2nd Place – Benchwarmer’s bankroll edged into second place for the very same reason The Coin's reached first.
3rd Place – Misterjimi’s loss was just large enough to bring his bankroll into the red, but he is still well positioned to recapture the lead in the final week of the derby.
4th Place – Trojangles’ bankroll is now virtually insolvent.
