Among the many unwise and unnecessarily extravagant decisions former Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott made was to locate the conference headquarters and network in some of the world's most expensive real estate in the world, let alone the Bay Area.
Now, the new P12 commissioner has announced the league will relocate from San Francisco when the current long-term lease ends in June 2023. Worth noting the $92 million plus rent Scott & Co. expended on those pricey Embarcadero digs cost the member schools via reduced payouts over a period of eleven years---when tons of less expensive television production facilities and talent were already available in the Los Angeles area.
Comment: While the P12's new site location has not yet been announced, I'm thinking Las Vegas, with its lower taxes, friendly business environs, and easy access to all member school locations will be hard to resist.
