In recent years, Kirk Herbstreit has become THE most recognizable broadcast announcer of college football, so it was a bit surprising to read in the Wall Street Journal (3/24/22) that Herbstreit will be joining veteran NFL announcer Al Michaels on Amazon Prime Video's (now exclusive) Thursday Night (NFL) Football broadcasts. The article notes Herbstreit will "Continue in his role at ESPN as part of its college football coverage, including appearing on its three-hour "Game Day" program and calling (college) games on Saturday nights" and quotes him saying, "My first love remains college football, holding on to my job at ESPN was crucial, and my double duties will involve working seven days a week for four months."
Comments: (1) As a diehard college football fan who doesn't watch much professional football, I'm a bit disappointed in this drift toward NFL and Amazon Uber alles. (2) I wonder if Amazon would be interested in taking over the Pac-12 Network.
